Insta-Faves 01

moonfeather1924morganYou know when you’re scrolling through Instagram and screenshot images you find inspiring and save them in your library and go back and look at them over and over again until you delete them because your phone is full and you must make room. (I know it’s not just me doing this!)

Well I’ve had a few images that have been chilling in my library and I thought I’d share, here are my top four of the moment!

Not that I’m currently engaged but I’ve been looking at this image and realizing its vibes are exactly what I want for my future wedding. You can see this on the Pinterest board I started a while back, not even ashamed that I’m already pinning!

Their photos really stand out from a lot of the images you see on IG. They let the object/subject speak for itself and often have a lot of white space. Trying to simplify myself in many ways and this account is great inspiration.

Recently Morgan and I met when her friend connected us after Rachel realized we both had a similar love for all things denim.  She’s a friendly local with lots of experience under her belt and is currently traveling and documenting for So Worth Loving.

This lady is seriously crafty. I’m dying for a couple of her stack rings! Not mention she’s got a great eye for snapping photos-creative angles and cropping-I’m always taking mental notes. If you don’t already follow these accounts and you like to be inspired, I’d say you outta check them out.  These are the type of folks that keep me wanting to take my hobbies further!

THE WEAVER HOUSE

vscofilm_weaverhouse29Happy first day of Spring!  From the looks of Facebook and Instagram, everyone is pretty excited about it including myself! As I mentioned previously, I just bought the newest VSCO film pack for Lightroom and while perusing their site, specifically the features section, I came across an article on The Weaver House that was very inspiring.  The Weaver House is a site and online creative corner for twin sisters Hannah and Kelty. These girls wear many hats including photographers, stylists, web and print designers and online shop owners.  I discovered them through their interview by VSCO which featured images they took for Verily Magazine-

The Weaver House was approached by Verily Magazine to do a fashion shoot for their first print issue. With a theme inspired by the attire of Emily Dickinson, Hannah & Kelty assembled a small and talented group of artists and friends, together fashioning a set of awe-inspiring imagery.

Inspired by Emily Dickinson’s stylish habit of wearing white dresses, they invited us to produce a 14-page spread based on a quote about Emily from Mabel Loomis Todd: “She dresses wholly in white, and her mind is said to be perfectly wonderful.”

We were smitten with the notion of taking this theme and running with it, and immediately signed on, starting a Pinterest board with inspiration to build upon. We were lucky to reel in some incredibly talented local friends and stylists, from clothing to the model to props to makeup and hair. We shot the spread on Kelty’s farm just outside Portland, where we had free reign to climb, forage and snap photos to our hearts’ content.

I really enjoy their interpretation of the vibe that Verily requested. I’ve been chatting with a local musician about doing something similar to this out at Stone Mountain or Arabia Mtn and with this new film pack need to nail down details quick, I want to edit and play around with films!

DECOR: MIRRORS

[Please welcome my first contributor, Ciara Sames, to LF!]

Hi Lady Flashback friends! I’m so excited to be sharing interior spaces and inspiration here on Jess’s blog. I’m a graphic designer during the day, but I’ve been interested in decorating ever since I was a kid. I plan on sharing some decorating tips, home trends, and just general home eye candy. Today I’m going to be sharing a little insight on decorating with mirrors.

It’s easy to overlook mirrors as a decorating element for anything other than your bathroom or your bedroom, but the truth is, mirrors can work in any room. They help open the space up and reflect more light into a sometimes dark room.

When looking for a mirror for your room, think about the statement you want to make with it. Do you want to add it to a collection of framed art, or do you want to make an impact with a grand mirror? Think about whether you’re for something new and modern or vintage. Adding a vintage mirror to your modern space can bring in a fresh, eclectic feel.

DECOR: PLANTS

Recently had my third roommate switch-a-roo and thus gone through yet another phase of home decor in the loft which to me is both fun and refreshing.  Each time I’ve deep cleaned and moved furniture since the roommate moving out has taken chucks of the living room with them, though most of the overall housewares are mine.  One thing I love about my place is the amount of plants.  A neighbor that was leaving gifted me tons of tropical plants and I’ve collected a bunch myself so my home feels as if it’s an indoor garden!  This is not always the case as plants come and go, I sorta got my dad’s green thumb but sometimes plants just die for no good reason. Two of my plants were grown from clippings of a 24 year old plant my parents have had since my youngest brother was born!  I enjoy getting inspired from Pinterest and not just fashion-wise but also for the home and thought I’d share some of my favorite rooms with plants:

Plants are great for many reasons not only do they add life to your home but they add color and most importantly they also improve the air you breath!  A while ago I did a DIY post for Common Creativ with plants, see post here.  Expect to see more posts like this coming soon from a new contributor, Ciara of Glass and Stable! STYLE CRUSH

As a blogger I am constantly checking out other blogs looking for inspiration.  When I spotted Lisa Dengler I was immediately drawn to her girly-meets tomboy-style.  After browsing through her archives I noticed she will pair outfits with flats or sneakers that could have been dressed up but she chooses to keep them comfy, which is my kind of style! She also does wear many shoes I could NEVER wear-unfortunately-but for the most part I can see myself wearing her looks.  These are some of my favorites from her site Just Another Fashion Blog.
