FLASHBACK FRIDAY

this past October I was snapped by my friend Matthew Smith of Shadowboxer Photography cruising down Highland Ave. during Atlanta Streets Alive October Halloween Parade Edition in a wacky space girl costume flashing a peace sign.  this month the photo made the COVER of Atlanta Intown in celebration of the upcoming ride that’ll be taking place in downtown ATL! it’s been loads of fun having my friends post on my FB wall and texting with “IS THIS YOU?!”
YEP, its me, Lady Flashy!
Picture 2
ASA started in 2010 and I had the pleasure of attending the very first one with two of my girl friends and posted about it here on the blog, here’s the post!  It’s been neat seeing how it’s evolved and improved. Looking forward to many more rides to come!

interested in participating? you’re in luck since the next ASA is THIS SUNDAY! and this is the first time we’ll be taking over Peachtree Street, which should be interesting especially since the weather isn’t looking ideal, but I’m crossing my fingers and doing my anti-rain dance so maybe mother nature will have mercy on our active souls :)
bring your bike, walking/running shoes, hula hoop, razor scooter or JUST YOU and join us this Sunday from 2-6pm!

FARMERS MKT

farmers
whether you’re into local or international, Atlanta has a farmers market for everyone. if you’re from around here chances are you’ve probably hit up Your Dekalb Farmers Market in Decatur which is a HUGE international market that has everything from live fish to yummy foreign beer to brand name organic goods. I like visiting both the permanent one AND the little seasonal pop up markets that are hosted in various neighborhoods. two of my favorites are the Grant Park and East Atlanta Village Farmers Market. I’ve discovered new produce, met and made friends, sampled local cheeses and taken home delicious produce. last Thursday and Sunday I snapped some pics at both spots

SHAKY KNEES MUSIC FEST

this weekend was Shaky Knees fest’s inaugural year and to say it was a wild ride is an understatement. I’d like to give everyone that stuck it out in the weather conditions an internet HIGH-FIVE! since mother nature showed very little mercy for attendees trying to watch and listen to good ole Southern folky bluesy tunes such as Dr. Dog, The Lumineers, Jim James, Band of Horses, Gary Clark Jr., Shovels and Rope and lots of other goodies! it was a rain or shine event that mostly RAINED. good thing my gal pal Mallory loaned me her rain boots because they were needed in the craziest possible way!
because everyone was decked out in water proof gear (or just drunk enough to not care they were soaked…) I thought it’d be fun to capture some of the rain boots I spotted, here is a glimpse into days 1 and 2 of the Wet n’muddy n’soggy rainy festival:

today marks my 27th year of being on planet earth!
celebrated early on Friday evening at Trader Vic’s Tiki Bar in the Hilton hotel in Downtown. with my mom and her Bama friend in tow, Ryan and I met up with a group of friends for sugary island drinks while wearing Hawaiian themed outfits!

picked up the phone to pretend dial for a “neat photo” and for some UNKNOWN reason started to dial 911. perhaps the child in me took over my adult senses, but luckily I realized what I was doing and punched several non-emergency numbers. thinking we would have been escorted out much quicker than when they really asked us to leave, which was after they had closed up shop at midnight!

since Ryan had surprised me with a corsage made of orchids and had a matching boutonniere for himself, we decided it was appropriate to slow dance in the middle of everyone–the catch was that there wasn’t any music!

this night, as you might imagine, was awesome!
thanks to my buddy Darius for snapping these rad photos-one could learn a thing or two from his lighting usage.  Friday night was only the start of the weekend celebrations as the next day Ryan and I drove to Hilton Head for his sister’s collegiate golf tournament and a mini vacay. Saturday was mostly driving and settling into the condo, but also included a lovely birthday dinner with his folks at an authentic Italian restaurant where I was served sorbet in an ice sculpture!
Sunday was forecasted for crap weather, but it actually ended up being beautiful, so we rented beach cruisers and shredded some sand and waves! like any good day at the beach, Coronas were involved as well as sunscreen and pool times.
thanks to my mom, friends, and boyfriend I can’t boast about this birthday enough! for the real birthday dinner we are going to The Lawrence in Midtown, after that it’s exercising time because next stop: HAWAII!
