So I’ve been watching the weekend forecast like a hawk and I’ll say this-if you’re coming to town for Shaky Knees Music Fest you’d be smart to pack your rain coat and boots! I don’t actually own a rain jacket but am hitting up Target after work to hunt down a polka dot one I saw on a friend and if that doesn’t happen I’ll be recycling my un-fashionable canary yellow poncho. What I’d really like is to wear cute clothes, bring my camera, shoot festival style, dance in the sun and enjoy myself without the worry of rain. From now until tomorrow afternoon you can find me doing an anti-rain dance!

This past weekend we went to another BBQ restaurant, Fox Brothers Barbecue. Surprisingly it was my first time. I say surprisingly because if you live in Atlanta it’s like a right of passage to eat at Fox Brothers, but, somehow I hadn’t. Since we had just gone to Sweet Auburn the weekend before it was only natural that we compared the two. We both agreed we like the sides better at Sweet Auburn but both places’ BBQ was very good and authentic to the traditional Southern style that Dustin and I are both used to eating. Before dinner we explored around Dekalb Ave at one of my favorite murals that is part of Living Walls from a few years back. The mural I’m standing in front of is by Swamp Donkey and the other (sitting photo) is by Greg Mike, an Atlanta local.

I don’t know about you but my week has been a little crazy thus far, and it’s only Tuesday. And it’s only going to get more nutty since I’ll be heading to the Lady Gaga concert with my mom in just a few hours, that’s right-Lady Gaga with my Mom! We both wanted to go but are also tying it into Mother’s Day celebrations because we won’t see each other this weekend since I’ll be at another music event, Shaky Knees Festival. I’m so freaking excited, for both! Tonight we are dressing the part too in full head-to-toe Lady Gaga worthy attire! So much music this week! Last year I wrote about the muddy 2-day fest here and here and if you recall through other blog posts that’s where I met Dustin! This past Sunday (May 4th) was actually our 1-year meetiversary, so thankful for that rainy night!
I know it’s been a minute but I hope you didn’t forget I promised a recap of the Blogger Closet Sale at the W Hotel in Buckhead. We had so much fun setting up all of our things and reminiscing about different pieces showing each other splurge items we never wore and things we bought hoping to fit in and had to finally let go. Getting there early and being set up pretty quickly also meant I was able to get first dibs on checking out the other bloggers closets. I ended up buying three things-from Tiffany I got a fringe Zara blouse and an H&M army jacket and from Jessica I scored a denim Zara shirt. I’ve already worn them all!

Dustin had the brilliant idea to use my old business cards as earring cards, made things so easy! I think I sold every thing in this pic, I who could resist those prices?!
We each signed up for Square which made things super easy! Personally hadn’t used the software/app before but would definitely recommend if you need to accept cards at a function.
My shoes didn’t sell that well, unfortunately, but I went and sold some at Buffalo Exchange and holding on to the rest until we have our “Fall Blogger Closet Sale.” That’s right, the W was so pleased with how it turned out they invited us to do another but none of those details are squared away yet but when we know, you’ll know!
Blogger Natalie of 11th Thread stopped by to shop and support. She went home with a vintage fake fur jacket and mint maxi skirt from my closet as well as a few other pieces from fellow bloggers.
My handsome “assistant” who helped me out big time with hauling all the stuff and set up/break down. He’s the best!

Friday evening was date night for Dustin and I at a new spot in town called Sweet Auburn Barbecue in the Highlands. We had heard it was a must visit from so many friends so we wanted to give it a go. I knew I’d like it right off the bat after walking in and spotting rustic decor and a vintage American flag. We each ordered a specialty cocktail and meat platter for dinner consisting of BBQ pulled pork and sides. I got the Sweet Water 420 baked beans and mac-n-cheese he got the grits and brussel sprouts. We were blown away! Seriously. The baked beans were my favorite part, they had the perfect amount of added bacon. We were so full after devouring we couldn’t fathom getting dessert, that was until we were literally convinced by a neighbor at our communal table to try the banana pudding-so we made room and were glad we did! As any Southern dessert should, the yummy dessert was served in a cute little mason jar.

Then on Saturday I went out to Arabia Mountain with a local singer songwriter named Sydney Ward to shoot photos for a soon to launch website called “I Spy Atl.” Sydney and I both squealed many times with joy over how the photos looked in-camera, I’m super excited to share with launch. More details on ISPYATL coming soon! That night we went to Dustin’s cousin’s house in Cumming, GA where we hung and grilled out and played with their 6-month old twin boys. Needed a low key night after hiking and getting partially sun-burnt for sure!
Sunday we went to the Braves game with Dustin’s family and a friend. The game was slow but we enjoyed conversation, beers and brats. At the end of the game a crazy storm rolled through and even though we ran to the car, which was parked far away from the stadium, we got drenched. Dustin had my purse (which contained my camera) tucked under his arms trying to keep it dry while I was running and laugh-screaming. My camera was unharmed and we had many good laughs, love silly memories like these!!
If you experienced any of the scary weather or tornadoes last night I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are ok! My two biggest fears are sharks and tornadoes, so you can imagine how high-strung I was this morning at 6:00am when our power went out and wind was sucking my blinds up against the window. The weather seems to be better but watching the forecast like a hawk.
I’m real excited to share these photos from a shoot I did with Betsy a while back. To tell you the truth I’m not quite sure just how they slipped through the cracks of sharing here on the blog. That day we shot 3 outfits and I’ve already shared one and two HERE and HERE. I was thrilled with the outcome of these and was “saving for a special post” and then, whelp, life’s busy ways got the best of me. So now I’m finally sharing our session at Oakland Cemetery, yay!
We may have turned on that facet, gotten the shots we wanted, got spotted and quickly turned off and booked it to a different area of the cemetery. maybe, maybe not. tehehe.
