FESTIVAL FASHION

and so it begins, the start of FESTIVAL SEASON, can I get a yayyyyyyyy?!?!

though I didn’t make it to Coachella again this year I’m always stoked to scour the internet for my favorite festival outfits. I was waiting till both weekends were over to collect as many looks as possible but as it turns out the best outfits were from Weekend One and I actually had a hard time even finding photos from Weekend Two…

after narrowing them down to my faves, I can say this year, much like all the other Coachella weekends did NOT disappoint! thanks to all the StreetStyle photographers out there capturing what we non-attendees can’t see for ourselves!

per usual I’ve paired together similar looks/color pallets/accessories/etc that I noticed were “trending” among the fashionable ladies, for example flower crowns or matching two-pieced outfits.

personally when I attend a festival it’s all about comfort and dressing practically for the weather conditions, especially since I usually camp (not to be confused with GLAMPING!)  so heels and white bottoms wouldn’t be my go-to but I do appreciate the effort that goes into Coachella.

speaking of getting excited for music, Atlanta has many’a festivals coming up, one of which is this weekend-Shaky Knees Festival-that I’ve been given a press pass to shoot this Saturday! Band of Horses is headlining and I couldn’t be more excited to cover the event! going to try and capture a few festival fashion shots of concert-goers if that’s possible around here, hahha, not saying ATL doesn’t have style but it’s certainly no Coachella..   other festivals heading our way in the next couple weekends are Party in the Park (Passion Pit, Yeasayer, Elle Goulding) and Jazz Fest (FREE! Memorial Day weekend)

get excited party people, SUMMER + MUSIC is on the way!

Kailua Beach

here’s the last of my Hawaii recap from my FAVORITE DAY of the whole trip!
thisone
we spent a whole day being adventurous on Kailua Beach kayaking to the Mokulua Islands, commonly known as “Moks” or “Twin Islands.” we paddled out to the big one, about 2.5 miles from land and had some lunch, snapped photos, did some light hiking and jumped in the tidal pool called the “queens bath.” can’t express how amazing this day was, but I can share some of my fav photos.

HawaiianForever 21 bathing suit #2, was really drawn to the mismatching look and seriously couldn’t beat the price! also wearing some inexpensive shades I bought for the trip from Clothing Warehouse in Little Five Points. love me some deals!

the colors, textures and plant life on the island were breathtaking!!

absolutely adore this photo of Steph with salty hair and her tribal print rash-guard which I was totally jealous of and wanted to swipe when she wasn’t looking!

don’t worry, I’m wearing SPF 70. seriously.

so, after our kayak and snorkeling adventure we grabbed some island snow aka shaved ice and then set out on a hike of the Kaiwa Ridge Trail to check out the old WWII era “pillbox” bunkers. these were used for observation of the coastline front during a possible Japanese invasion (knowledge we gained from some fellow hikers since it’s not super touristy and had ZERO signage.)

destination
this was number one of two that we hiked to, as you can see it’s pretty fierce terrain!

“PARTY TIME.”

these aren’t our dogs but they were hilarious! walked right past us, didn’t want or need to be petted just wanted to check out the amazing view. who could blame them?!

close up of the bunker and though it’s eroding and has been painted over throughout the decades, you can still see it’s original structure. we thought these were too cool and climbed all over them, even sat on the roof with some other folks and looked out over the coastline. one thing we didn’t do was climb in, sorta freaked us out.
edited
though I don’t usually heavily edit my photos, I really didn’t touch up these photos at all, just some minor lightening to bring out colors but really wanted to let the natural beauty do all the talking.
recapping my trip has been really nice, it’s like visiting all over again minus the sunscreen and convertible. would love to go back and have more days like the above, truly a highlight!
thanks for taking the time to look at my trip.
next up: Coachella Street Style from weekend one + two!

pics from North Shore, Honolulu
HI_LF_SUIT
arrived back on the “main land” last Thursday but due to a family member passing away I’m just now getting to recapping our trip. rest peacefully Papaw, next fish I catch is for YOU!

this first set of photos is from mine and Steph’s adventure up to North Shore with a local showing us the lei of the land. on the way over, cruising in our convertible, we passed by a coffee farm and Dole pineapple farm, too cool! here are a few snaps of the scenery.
HI_SURF

10-15 foot waves that day, needless to say we saw a lot of good surfing and didn’t DARE go into the wild waters, not that the lifeguards would have let us…

VOLCOM
we were posted up right outside of the Volcom house (which is next to the Quicksilver and Red Bull house) where the pro surfers stay during competitions, sadly it was empty for the most part.

HI_DOUBLE
although I enjoyed the Kona beers this Bikini Blonde Lager by Maui Brewing Co. was my favorite local brew, more body than the Kona’s but still light and crisp. Steph bought these adorable lil sunglasses earrings from the AWESOME 3-story Forever 21 near our hotel, she gifted me a pair of my own!
HI_US
my swimsuit also came from the over-sized F21 in Wakiki, scored another retro fit one as well that will be posted in the next couple of days. Stephanie’s swimsuit is from Everything but Water.

LOTS more Hawaii trip recap’n to come!
have a good Wednesday!
