Back in February I had the pleasure of photographing a friend’s thirtieth birthday up in Blairsville, GA. This friend, Maggie, is a very talented calligrapher, stylist, curator, host…the list goes on! Knowing these skills I knew it was going to be GOOD.
As I predicted it was dreamy! We pulled up to a beautiful two-story cabin that overlooked Lake Nottely with a mountain view. The dinner featured hand-lettered menus, enamelware, foraged greenery, plaid (!!!), cutest mini wood and gold flatware and many more of Maggie’s touches. Lets let the photos do the talking –
The birthday lady!
I asked her what made her pick this spot and she said with certainty it was the raw wood table! I’m sure the view also had something to do with it but I agree, it is a really good table for hosting such an epic evening!
She mixed her own chairs with chairs from the cabin for a fun mixed-matched seating arrangement.
Did I mention she has a knack for presentation?!
After this party I was so obsessed with oysters. Remember my recap post from Oysterfest? We went because I enjoyed eating them so much this day!
Working her magic on finishing touches.
It was pretty when the sun was shining bright but every hour it got a little darker it kept getting better and better!
I wish I could photograph these type of events all the time! Seriously a dream.
Stayed for the meal, party and after party! Thanks for letting me take a part in your special day and bomb party Maggie!
Who’s ready for the weekend?! *raises hand
We have a packed schedule! Goes something like this: The High Museum tonight, tomorrow going glasses shopping (yep, found out I have astigmatism and need specs) followed by snapping a surprise proposal, then Sunday we are going to Oysterfest and an Oscars party.
So ready to get it started!
This outfit has been on repeat in various combinations. In case you didn’t know, all about comfort!
Details: Madewell under shirt, jeans, purse and hat / Penfield jacket / Gap sweater / Chuck Taylor hightops
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Yesterday was literally hot as hell, but that didn’t stop me or the hundreds of whiskey fans from stopping by Loose Nuts Cycles to check out the Bulleit Whiskey trailer! The little guy is called “Woody” and was originally designed for the Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gift Guide and retails at more than $150,000. Created by iconic designer Brad Ford, the Woody is cast from repurposed Bulleit barrels and features a fully stocked bar of Bulleit Bourbon, Rye and 10-Year. It’s been featured on The Today Show, CNN and more. Here’s my coverage along with some recipes from the event-
The Bulleit Bourbon Orange Cruiser and Bulleit Rye Smash cocktails are perfect for the Summer due to they’re fruity, light taste and drinkability.
Bulleit Rye Smash
1.25 oz. Bulleit® Rye
1 oz. Simple Syrup
3 Lemon Wedges
3 Mint Sprigs
3 Dashes Bitters
In an ice filled shaker combine all the ingredients. Shake vigorously and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.
Bulleit Bourbon Orange Cruiser
1.25 oz. Bulleit® Bourbon
0.75 oz. Mint Syrup
0.75 oz. Pineapple Syrup
4 oz. Fresh Sweet and Sour Mix
6 Orange Slices
1 Mint Sprig
Shake Bulleit Bourbon, mint syrup, pineapple syrup and orange slices with ice and pour (do not strain) into an old-fashioned glass. Add a splash of club soda (optional) and garnish with mint sprig.
Coincidentally, this event aligned with the Atlanta Bicycle Fest which is currently under way thru Saturday.
The Bulleit Woody will continue its journey across the nation to help inspire an elevated tailgate experience in preparation for the Summer months and upcoming football season. By following @BulleitUs on Instagram you can see firsthand where the Woody is heading to next!

This past Thursday the Free People of White Provisions hosted a Pre-Shaky Knees / festival season kick off party. The festivities included free local ice cream from The Queen of Cream, free locally brewed beer from Three Taverns, tote making by my favorite Native Bear, flower arrangements by Soul Flowers Floral Cart and of course, shopping! I attended with camera in hand and snapped away —
We got this brew for my birthday keg, it’s my absolute favorite! High-gravity while still on the lighter, crisp side with just the right amount of hops.. yum yum!
Ayla of Soul Flowers Floral Cart
As always the store displays and outfits were on point!
Cora of Queen of Cream
Molly, the cutest laying Aussie Shepard around!
A happy floral customer!
Spear sisters, Emma (left) the store manager and Sarah (right) curator of blog and Instagram Cool Atlanta who co-hosted the party. They are not only the best dressed sisters but also the sweetest!
Went home with a handful of swag but my favorite was this tote made right in front of me by Leela of Native Bear!
Even though we didn’t go to Shaky Knees, it got me pumped up for this weekend’s Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama! Love us some music festivals! Now to just get through this work week…
