TALKING ART

this is a bit out of chronological order but we shall just call it a “flashback” since it was Aug 22nd when I went out to dinner and art gallery hopping with some friends. documented mine and Elizabeth’s outfits along with a few snaps around the galleries in the West Side area and Poncey Highlands.

after Kai Lin we went to BEEP BEEP to view my roommate Chelsea Raflo’s exhibit which was showing from the beginning of August till now (show is about to come down). her and Mike Germon collaborated on a mixed show of some independent pieces along with a joint-effort mural in the back.

really need to watch her create each frame, one by one, and then to see it all come together and MOVE inside a video box she crafted by hand as well-so proud!

recognize the tiny person above wearing the ASOS Alice in Wonderland style dress? IT’S ELIZABETH from the above pics (with a lot more hair…this was pre-pixie cut obv..)! months ago, Chelsea and Eliz did a shoot together and Chelsea cut out some frames and used the stills of Eliz for one of the videos and then reused them in the dual effort collage, hoping we get to keep some of these around the house after the show comes down!

don’t know about you all but I’m glad my labor day weekend was chill. I desperately needed to catch up on some house stuff, freelance stuff and LIFE stuff.
good luck with going back to work tomorrow!

SEERSUCKER SOCIAL

this year marked the 4th Annual Seersucker Social and my second year in a row in attendance for the fancy ride through Atlanta’s hilly streets! dressed in our finest Southern duds, bike baskets loaded with blankets, food and drinks we peddled, waved to cars and jammed to swing jazz for about 7 miles before setting up a picnic area in the Historic Oakland Cemetery!
take a look into one of my favorite events-

meet Kwanza Hall a city councilman representing District 2, we met while I was working at Fastsigns and helped him print up some campaign signs many years ago. he came along for the Social riding his brightly colored fixed gear and rode the whole time wearing a blazer in 90 degree Southern heat! I asked “how in the world are you still riding with that on?!?!” he said “I’m just keeping it cool” per usual might I say, he’s changed the way I think of politicians!

OPERATION PROM

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of giving back to my community via the Operation PROM X Borrowed by Design dress drive in Buckhead. I brought along an embellished black Jessica McClintock dress from my senior year prom from back in 2004! The drive raised 73 dresses that will be donated to less fortunate girls around Georgia who, without the help of Operation PROM, wouldn’t be able to attend their formal dances. Here’s a short recap of the event in the Atlanta Tech Village-

Each dress worn by the pageant winning models were later donated to the dress drive. Too cool that a high school girl will be able to wear a dress that was worn and WON in a pageant to her formal dance!!

Karen is the Atlanta Operation PROM director, she is wearing a vintage dress from her friends vintage shop. We chatted about our love for all things thrifted and Instagram, nice meeting you Karen!

Knowing that I helped a high school girl attend one of her formal dances wearing something I wore and enjoyed when I was in high school means a lot! Thanks to Operation PROM and Borrowed by Design for allowing us to reach out to our community!

ATL Streets

in this month’s issue of Jezebel I have photos featured in both the Street Style section and Best-Dressed ATL!!!! here’s a snap shot from the digital copy that you can view here.

here’s my little contributor’s blurb, the question for this month was “what is your idea of a ‘perfect date’ around Atlanta?” I described mine and Dustin’s second date. after tossing around the frisbee we wanted to get more competitive and so we set up a frisbee golf course (placed 3 different objects in different areas that you had to throw and get closest to, while tallying up tosses) lucky for our competitive personalities we tied each time! sweet memory that I think is perfect :D

RED WHITE & FLAMMABLE

my photographer friend Betsy and I decided we should revisit the stomping grounds where we met and do a little photo sesh in Grant Park. we added some sparklers left over from the 4th of July and some oldie but goodie vintage pieces from my wardrobe, here’s set one of three!
