So this is my version of a menswear inspired outfit, on a daily basis.  It’s super casual, seeing as how I was hanging around the house & warm because that day was freezing (literally).  Later I went out for sushi and had a scrumptious desert afterwards at the house with my sweetie.

Today has been rather crazy, driving an hour & 15 mins. (one way) to an interview in Birmingham at the Urban Outfitters. At this point I have to take whatever is offered and since I have worked for UO & Anthro in previous years I have a good chance at re-hire. Afterwards coming home, riding bike to meet up with ladies for a pleasant Tai meal, riding bikes around quad, talking to media about great great aunt turning 94 (it was this huge production at Denny Chimes, found out last min, oh and had no idea about the media, thanks mom!) going to museum, and riding around some more via bike.  The temp reached 75 today!! Gotta love Alabama, but tomorrow it’s going to rain and be back to cold, which is to be expected after the glorious day of earthbound sun.  Here soon I’m going to eat with a bunch of relatives in celebration of the G.G.Aunt turning ancient (hehe) and then it’s party time.  My townhome-connected-neighbor is having a party so I don’t have to go far to have a good time tonight!

After cooking another delicious falafel meal this afternoon I went for a power bike ride around town.  It was incredibly smooth since (he) had just got home from the bike spa, getting a nice tune up & new tire (thanks sweetie Dp!). I love my tough mountain bike it suits my riding style very well and with the new bike rack I got for Christmas it’s going to go everywhere! Following the bike ride and such I went to Egans Bar to throw some darts. Meghan and I made somewhat of a comeback with multiple bulls eyes, which was crazyness, but in the end-l.o.s.t. Tomorrow I may have good news, as far as a job goes. nothing big, just trying to earn some dough.

This is what I wore on Monday to grab some $1.00 beers at a semi-swanky resturant, The Globe, with a couple gal pals.  It was super super cold so I had to wear my wool coat and ended up wearing wool-on-wool-on-wool which is very itchy! I have another outfit to post and will probably get to that later, seeing as how it’s another freezing day and HGTV will probably get old.

Here goes the debut of my mustard leather fanny pack.  I love it, and especially since it was a gift from my dear friend, Emma. She is always thinking about me whether at flea markets or antique shop, and constantly surprises me with amazing gifts.  She sent me this fanny pack from her old job in the woods teaching kids about environmental education, and had found it at a very small market. (of sorts) Made by Rachel-X it caught her eye initially with its flashy color, AND THEN turned out to be a fanny. (YES!)

These photos were taken on Sunday, it was such a pretty day I could not sit indoors.  I ate my breakfast outback swinging & listening to the million birds living in the vine cluster that was formally a tree.  Speaking of outdoors & my backyard, I have bad news, well for me anyways, my garden does not appear to have survived the freezing temps.  I know most all the lettuce is gone, but the collards (my least favorite) will probably make it. I am crossing my fingers for the broccoli to survive, it is very saddening.  I tried covering the plants with a tapestry but I think I was too late. I am done pouting, since it’s completely out of my hands and in mother nature’s.

Sew Machine

Thought I would share one of the DIY Christmas projects I did for a couple of gal pals.  I couldn’t post them until they had all been given out and now that the holiday season is over and done with, take a lookie:

These Free People stockings were the inspiration for the gifts, but I will admit I don’t have the skills to create something nearly as grand.

This is Savannah’s stocking made with Laurie Smith fabric, vintage buttons & lace, and some Hobby Lobby beaded trim. My favorite part is the 1st photo with the vintage sparkly ribbon used for the hanging loop.

Megan received this one made from vintage fabric found at a flea market, Hobby Lobby lace (from Halloween diy custome) vintage lace, and pomes from a performace with Meghan’s former band, The Bonky Bonks. They threw them all over the place and pack-rat me picked up 5 or 6 for later projects, hehe. 

This was for my townhouse duplex neighbor, Andrea. I used Laurie Smith fabric & vintage lace.  This was the same fabric I used for my DIY curtains in my last living room.  

This one is sorta up-for-grabs. I don’t know what’s going on, I created this for a special friend but haven’t really heard from her in a while. She still hasn’t received but we’ll see, anyways, it was made from more Laurie Smith material, vintage buttons & lace, and Hobby Lobby pomes. 

The story behind all this great Laurie Smith material is great because I scored it for SO CHEAP. I believe $1.99 per yard and it’s really great when sewing because it’s stiff and easy to hem and iron.  Hancock Fabrics no longer carries her stuff but I just love the colors & patterns she works with. 

Hope your Monday isn’t too dreadful, it’s around forty degrees with insane winds so I am sticking to the warm indoors.
