Free People: THE RIDE

Free People puts so much thought into their catalog’s story lines and photography it blows me away.  For this month they enlisted one of my favorite models, Erin Wasson, a free spirit babe who knows how to rock some flowy boho clothes.  She is the definition of hip if you ask me. Not only did they choose the perfect lady model they also enlisted a hottie as her motorcycle riding boyfriend that proposes to her in the desert.  This brand knows how to make an out of the ordinary catalog and that also goes for Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters-who are under the same corporate umbrella. See for yourself and then follow the link at the end of the post to view the video!

Free People’s March collection sheds its winter layers and embraces a bare look for spring. The collection features an eclectic mix of pieces from ‘barely there’ tops layered with strappy bras, to bold South American-inspired denim, and breezy maxis. Accessories focus on long drapey chains and statement arm cuffs to complete the look.

Watch the video of the romantic cross-country motorcycle ride here!  Not that I’m thinking about eloping-my mom would kill me as we both want to plan a beautiful rustic Southern wedding-but wouldn’t that be adventurous/thrilling/fun/romantic?!

PS: It’s my birthday month and I’m not picky, love the whole collection, hint hint wink wink! (But if you twist my arm to pick I’d love the red maxi!)

40MM

Hope every had good weekend! Mine was quite relaxing which is just what I needed. Didn’t snap any pics-well besides ones I took on my phone and posted to Instagram- so I wanted to share some photos from Christmas.  Dustin and I took advantage of the sun and experimented with the 40mm “pancake” lens. It’s size is perfect to keep on the camera for daily use and is still able to snap crisp images. I’m thoroughly impressed!

Finishing up my recap of the trip Dustin and I took to Savannah with my favorite part:  Bonaventure Cemetery.  As odd as it may seem to some of you, I find historic cemeteries quite peaceful and being a sucker for old landscapes find them to be beautiful. When we visited Bonaventure I knew very little about it’s history and while we were there I didn’t take the time to read literature but rather took in the sights.  I am often guilty of doing this on vacations, not much of a “history buff” so I tend to just enjoy.  We quickly picked up on reoccurring themes and later still being interested, I read about it’s past.  We noticed many Jewish headstones as well as Confederate plot markers and after a Google search found out the cemetery’s largest group burials include war veterans (WW1 &WW2) various religious faiths and the Order of Railroad Conductors. There’s more information on the group burials here.

Cemetery closed us in so we had to escape by jumping the fence which proved to be a little tricky.

my look: Forever 21 jacket, Lovely Day dress, Nine West booties, Clothing Warehouse sunglasses

The quiet stroll around the cemetery snapping photos and hanging with my babe was very pleasant. We were going to take a ghost tour on our trip but didn’t end up being able to squeeze it in, didn’t really need to anyways after walking through a huge cemetery!

VERY VERY VERY excited to share some of my faves from my shoot with Tara aka DJ Taradactyl at the Plaza Theater!!!!!!!!!!!!! The owner of WildFlag boutique, Meghan, was kind enough to provide the clothing and Brittany from Shear Love salon worked her magic creating Tara’s Charlie’s Angel/70’s bombshell hair and makeup. I took sooooooo many shots and there were so many great ones as Tara is super gorg but for the sake of your browser’s loading capabilities I narrowed it down.

MAILCHIMP

mc
There are several things you should know about MailChimp, first of all they are an email marketing service provider, based in Atlanta. Secondly, they are hilarious and add little details to everything to give it humor. Additionally, they make hats for cats and throw really awesome customer appreciation parties! I’ve been using them at my job for a few years now and attended last years first shindig. With photobooths, open bars, food trucks and a life sized MailChimp-their parties RULE!

mc1

they had a photo area set up that was for you to capture a pic, post to Instagram and hashtag #mailchimplovesme and then it’d be printed out for you to take home-Dustin and I got attacked by these crazy glamping critters!

mc3
like this dress? local? you’re in luck! I’m selling it to Rag-O-Rama or Buffalo Exchange. have had it for a couple years, it’s made more than one blog appearance (and lets be honest, it’s a little too short….)
—bye dress!

event was at the Foundry at Puritan Mill where the Jezebel party was also hosted. love this place! has a industrial loft feel that’s both fancy and comfortable.

like I was saying, MailChimp has a funny sense of humor that you immediately notice when using their services. whether it’s a monkey hand giving you a high five for sending out a campaign or learning how to say “hello” in a different language, also from a monkey, they add cute little details to everything about their brand. at the party they gave away SO MUCH SWAG, I snagged a super soft t-shirt, bag made from their old billboards, another cat hat this one for Flynn, and cat hats for Dustin and I to match the boys! they had the above vending machine with little plush monkeys, guaranteed a winner every time!
