HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
576551_10101823449998655_516437646_n
Last weekend we got the Halloween party(s) started with a night in Little 5 Points at the Boos and Brews bash at Front Page News. We went into it thinking it was a beer fest since they sorta advertised as one but quickly realized it was simply a BIG PARTY so we dove right into the dance floor then challenged another couple to beer pong (won!) and had a blast!

Then on Saturday we went to the Scoutmob party at the Goat Farm where we volunteered for Frozen Pints, handing out beer ice cream samples to the first 250 attendees, then walked around taking in all the spooky artwork and of course finding the Smilebooth and snapping some pics!

We both got a good deal on our costumes from Psycho Sisters in L5P and even though they’re prepackaged we added our own touches to them and made sure to ALWAYS have a beer (or two) in hand!

I’ll be laying a little lower this evening since I’m working a photobooth at Backbone Fest both Friday and Saturday night! Come to the Highland Ballroom for some lady talent at this female music and entertainment festival!

Hope everyone has a fun, safe and spppooooooooky night!

Factory Flashy: Curious Provisions

I’m starting a new little adventure here on the blog called “Factory Flashy” where I visit workshops and studios around Atlanta that make local goods.  Whether it’s food, crafts, clothes or accessories I want to shed some light on what’s getting made locally by talented folks! My first stop was the Curious Provisions showroom over on the Westside.  They take vintage suitcases from the 40s, 50s and 60s and turn them into portable BOOMBOXES that have Bluetooth capabilities as well as an aux cable and rechargeable battery. The two owners, Javier and David, met while working for Home Depot corporate and decided to set out on their own adventure. Their main gig is a digital design agency, Launch Interactive, but after getting tons of compliments on their suitcase boombox creation they had in their office they decided to launch their online store and that’s when they started Curious Provisions. With celebrities such as Shaq and Bruno Mars owning their goods, I’d say their creation is quite unique! Check out my studio visit-

outfit details: Bill Hallman top, F21 skirt, Superga shoes, Vieta bag and Deck Specks sunglasses (also a locally made brand!)

I snapped many behind the scenes photos but due keeping their designs confidential I promised the guys I wouldn’t post the photos but I will say the insides of these things are pretty cool! Also, LOUD, these things can reach 200 watts! As big fans of EDM (electronic dance music) the guys wanted the boomboxes to be able to produce high quality sound.

Thanks Javier and David for allowing me to hang and check out the studio and Pamela for giving me the whole opportunity and idea for this new adventure!

SALVAGE

last weekend I was invited by the sweet gals of Birds of a Feather Creative to attend Salvage hosted by the ladies of Indie Craft Experience to check out the selection of vintage clothes, housewares, handmade goods and locally made jewelry at Ambient Studios. in the past I’ve attended a few ICE events as well as Salvage and they always seem to have the BEST in indie and vintage goods! Ambient is a beautiful space with great natural light, high ceilings and lots of room to mingle around.

FARMERS MKT

farmers
whether you’re into local or international, Atlanta has a farmers market for everyone. if you’re from around here chances are you’ve probably hit up Your Dekalb Farmers Market in Decatur which is a HUGE international market that has everything from live fish to yummy foreign beer to brand name organic goods. I like visiting both the permanent one AND the little seasonal pop up markets that are hosted in various neighborhoods. two of my favorites are the Grant Park and East Atlanta Village Farmers Market. I’ve discovered new produce, met and made friends, sampled local cheeses and taken home delicious produce. last Thursday and Sunday I snapped some pics at both spots
