FAVORABLE TREND

city_rustic2
lately through street style snaps on blogs and Pinterest I’ve noticed a rustic city gal meets cowgirl trend i’ve been really into including wide-brim hats, parkas, ankle boots, satchels and fringe. I’ve pulled some of my favorite looks from my “Streets and Style” board showing how it’s done all over the world.

the look even comes in a dressy version

I’m always up for mixing brown and black
this ensemble is very much my style as it’s relaxed, comfy with a little tomboy mixed in with BOOTS.
snapped a few photos on Sunday of how I’m currently rocking this trend using pieces from my own wardrobe-stay tuned for photos TOMORROW.

lastly
what i really like most about this collection is the touches of masculinity while still keeping it girly. i’m serious when i say i’m studying this lookbook..its damn near perfection for Fall/Winter. imagining my own wardrobe i’m thinking i have pieces that could come together to form some of these looks. though i hate cold weather i’m pretty excited about layering, especially short sweaters over longer shirts, billowy tops over skirts/dresses and button downs under EVERYTHING.
hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween, as i had dressed up numerous times over October i opted to stay in and make chicken-n-dumplins. it was the smartest decision i’ve made in a while :)

CURE ON THE CATWALK

tonight i’ll be strutting the catwalk at the W Atlanta Hotel in Buckhead with breast cancer survivors alongside fellow Atlanta Style Bloggers. i had the pleasure of meeting and styling Lara at the Fab’rik in Buckhead and you can bet we had fun playing dressup! she trusted my “styling advice” and went with a dress she said she “would have never thought to even try on!” which ended up looking FABULOUS! though a last minute dilemma came up and she isn’t able to attend tonight’s event i know that our styling session meant a lot to both of us.

ON THE STREETS: NYFW

this season i’m doing my “coverage” of New York Fashion Week a little differently as websites such as Refinery 29, NY Mag, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Nasty Gal have made it possible with street style photography i’ve collected my favorite showgoer and model street style looks. it took perusing many hours, sifting through 100s and 100s of photos plus using Photoshop to make it all fit but here are my farovite looks from the streets of NY last week-

can you spot fellow lady bloggers On the Racks, Trop Rouge, Man Repeller, The Glamourai, Buro 24/7, Hanneli, Late Afternoon and The Blonde Salad? it’s really cool to see how blogging has changed over the years and how these hard working ladies are getting recognition for being the fashionistas they truly are and being placed on the same “level” as designers, models, magazine contributors and other fashion forward thinking individuals.

trends i spotted while surfing the street style scene from this years NYFW include:
-loud and bold printed pants in both flared and straight leg
-maxi dresses now with a new slit which i think will help make the maxi more flattering for different body types (and my girlfriends agreed when this was brought up in conversation!)
-wearing blazers on shoulders for a classy “im keeping warm but not too hot” look
-wide brim hats
-lots of WHITE, creme and ivory
-menswear and tomboy looks
-dressing up vintage tees with a fancy skirt
-denim on denim
-neons mixed with black help carry this trend into Fall/Winter
-casual chic
-colorful reflective shades
-rigid, THICK fabrics

even though this post is PACKED with photos…there’s more! i really had a tough time narrowing it down to a reasonable amount so i’ve put the remaining photos on my LF Facebook page.

if you went to Fashion Week, i am jealous. hopefully i can plan it right and ahead of time next year and snap some of my own street style pics!

WORKIN WOMEN

as a hard working woman i definitely appreciate other hard working women and i especially admire those who are also stylish and creative. Refinery 29 also takes notice in such females and is running a short feature-a-day for the month of August. so far my favorite ladies include jewelry designers, a stylist and a media strategist.  take a peak at their hip style and rad workspaces-
