autumn shades

Another new-to-me dress I picked up from selling/trading in clothes at Buffalo Exchange. Loving its African fabric vibes. This dress will be great for this season but is also light enough to wear in warmer temperatures with strappy sandals.

Necklace c/o InPink, an online fashion jewelry retailer. Check out this piece and other great necklaces and jewelry on their site!
Meet one of my newest tattoos by local artist and tattoo artist Sam Parker. I drew up an idea and he perfected it, love how it came out!

This day was awesome. Hung out in Lil5 with Dustin, sold some clothes to Rag-o-Rama and picked up a second-hand maxi dress from Anthro and a kids XL skeleton sweatshirt I’m going to wear for this weekends Halloween parade, ate burritos at El Myr and then went to The Naked & Famous show at the Tabernacle I would say it doesn’t get much better but it seems that it can and does, life is good!

Youthful & Free

Sunday, Jezebel Magazine in partnership with the BB&T Atlanta Open hosted a party in conjunction with their most recent issue that highlights Atlanta’s Top 100 restaurants. I attended with the hopes of capturing some “Best Dressed” pics and since that was easy peasy as there were lots of well-dressed Atlantans in attendance, I was then able to partake in the tasty food and play in the photobooth! here’s what I wore:
Dress c/o Free People, Necklace c/o Free People, Cynthia Rowley purse, vintage cuff, rings By Phillip
some people have an accent nail, i have a PARTY nail!
Dustin and I thought the front of this dress looks like an owl, can you see it? I think it makes it so much cooler, not that it needed cool points cause it’s just straight AWESOME.
once we got there Dustin asked “Jess, have you seen your Street Style section in print yet??!” and I exclaimed “NOOO!!!” and we both ran over and flipped to page 58 and then proceeded to OooH and Ahhhh :P then we took the above photos and got filmed doing so by the Modern Luxury videographer, silly awesome moment that I’ll never forget!

the title of this post was actually something Dustin said to me after the party, he said that I looked pretty in my new dress and said that I looked “youthful and free” which made my heart flutter and I thought it was the perfect compliment to me and the dress!

this weekend was part working at the Mart for the January Apparel Show and part fun including a double dinner date, dancing at The Basement’s “Keep On Moving” and a surprise couples massage! pictured here are two main outfits I wore. above was worn to brunch and the massage and below was a work day outfit.

next main outfit on my mind is what I plan to wear to The XX show this Saturday!
have a great Mid-Week,

wishing you a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR!

the NYE Soiree in the Stars event at The Highland Inn Ballroom went better than anyone could have hoped!  the place was packed with well-dressed 20-somethings all VERY excited to ring in 2013!

above you can see my co-host//lovely roommate and i are posing in our very own and my first photobooth! btw we completely DIY’d it.  we rented the equipment, bought a remote (which I needed anyways for blogging, yay!), and then hung up sparkly things.  after sifting through nearly 600 photos I ended up posting something like 415 on my LF Facebook page! sadly, I was too busy prior to and during the event to remember to take shots of all the DIY’d decor Chelsea and I made, but I managed to take a few snaps the day after.  here are highlights from the night.  see the full set on

aside from Chelsea running the Ballroom Events office, she is also an accomplished artist. she free-handed these letters and covered them with glass glitter.  plus, she also made the wall stars and cut out the planets.  we were both extremely pleased with how the decor came together, SOOOOOO MANY STARS!

we bought different shades and patterns of white and cream fabrics and cut them into strips, then tied them onto cotton rope, and viola! DIY’d FRINGE! thanks to Jessica and Mallory for assisting in that project!
aaaaand just for fun thought I’d share one of the funniest photos from the night.  this is silly and ridiculous, but I’m fairly certain someone was egging me on…..cough cough….ELIZABETH!

it’s post-New Years Eve party planning, and I’m in full-blown-show-mode at the Mart.  cue one of the biggest Gift Shows at Americasmart. ++CUE ANXIETY.

wish me luck and again, Happy 2013!

for this month’s LF X COMMON CREATIV DIY + DRINK i made a flower crown from faux flowers, felt and floral wire. after browsing through other blogger’s tutorials i found multiple ways of producing the crown and through my own small battle this method, in my opinion, is the best way for a professional result that’ll last. here are some pics, see Common Creativ for full instructions, post and drink recipe!
ended up not using my dogwood flowers so i used them to create a simple version using only 3 ingredients: flowers, hot glue & thick floral wire. way easy!
then started experimenting with my camera’s shutter speed, it was nearly dark when i took these but managed to pull what little light was left and got some cool shots-
-dress via the clothing swap i hosted with Shear Love, Frye sandals-
this weekend is the lil5 Halloween parade, one of my favorite events ALL YEAR! i’ll be dressing up as Suzy Bishop from Moonrise Kingdom.
have a good rest of the week, not too long till its the weekend!
