NYFW: Best Streetstyle Sites

angelsPOV

Each New York Fashion Week season I mainly get excited for one thing: STREET STYLE. Since I’ve only experienced the event from home via the internet, Instagram or Twitter the most realistic aspect to me is style on the street. I have several go-to sites for the best coverage of what I like to call “the concrete runway” and I wanted to share them with you, not an any particular order, here they are:

misternewton

Mr. Newton

He’s a photographer and blogger with an eye for pretty girls in pretty clothes and usually snaps good angles. I like that it’s not always super fancy attire that I can actually relate to my own style.

jaknjil

Jak and Jil

Shot by Tommy Ton this blog is full of high-res up-close shots of fashionable men and women.  I’ve always enjoyed his focus on accessories and shoes.  His work is on GQ.com and Style.com so you could also visit those sites to see photos that don’t make it to his Tumblr.

hapers

Harpers Bazaar

Harper’s is always capturing great street style and are a go-to for festival style as well, really like their large high-quality images. Also they take notice to fashion bloggers which is something I definitely appreciate.

Elle

As well-rounded as the magazine, Elle.com is loaded with fashion week information such as complete shows and street style. Chose the above photo from the current NYFW because I’m mildly obsessed with her coat, ok, very obsessed!

vogue

Vogue

[line]

I feel like this is a “DUH.” but their street style photography is different than the common strike-a-pose full outfit shot and like you’d expect they have detailed coverage of all things fashion week related even parties!

venessajackman

Vanessa Jackman

I really admire Vanessa’s site, it’s clean and simple, her photography is beautiful and she seems to really connect with the people she photographs.  The photos are soft and nicely edited. She travels all over the world so you can see style from Paris to Milan.

ref29

Refinery 29

[line]

Big fan of their emails which are usually funny and informative and also a fan of their style coverage from fashion week to the day-to-day streets of large cities, R29 is a must for a daily site and NYFW.

Additional great sites to visit: Style Caster, Vanity Fair, Teen Vogue or fashion bloggers that are in attendance such as Blonde Salad or Song of Style.  Have a super weekend!

all over Urban

generally try not to wear head-to-toe of just one brand but sometimes it just happens, in this outfit’s case it’s Urban Outfitters (minus accessories). the top and boots were Christmas gifts from mom and the Urban Renewal Levi shorts i bought after holiday markdowns for only $9.99
nothing too fancy and even though there isn’t much color, i do like the pallet of dark shades.

//TOKION//

well HELLO october

and hello to You All!
TCover
!!meet Tokion!!
a photo filled publication originally started as a cultural bridge between japan && the USofA by two americans living in japan.
the description is best put by the magazine themselves:

TOKION is an arts and culture magazine that reports from the street level where the creative community lives and thrives. Always willing to take a chance and try something new, TOKION goes inside the world of the contemporary artists, musicians and designers who are pushing boundaries and shaping the way we see the world. With its world-class photography and cutting-edge design, the magazine provides a one-of-a-kind platform for the emerging stars and the established icons of art, design, fashion, music and film to present their unfiltered visions to an audience of cultural messengers.

i took the time, and a lot of time at that ((!!!)) to scan in some of my favorite photos and will be sharing them here with you! here is just a few of some of the beautiful photos from the lovely magazine////

all about some oxfords and ked-like shoes these days. esp since it’s hard for me to wear heels, the oxfords are a great dressy alternative to heels.
t4
got my first ((and DEF not last)) pair of TOMS a couple months ago, they are burlap like the ones here just don’t have strips. they go with everything and are SO SO comfy! ((TOMS TIP: always get a 1/2-full size smaller, they will stretch!!))
t2
even though it’s now october, i still am able to rock some tanks living in georgia…and that’s exactly what i’ve been doing. love love love tanks, especially slouchy ones.
t3
and what’s better than a tank that’s cropped?! and one with triangles is even better, i have long been obsessed with triangles, don’t know what it is about that shape but i dig it.
t5
this article was called “WEEKEND WARRIOR” and i am def getting the warrior vibe from both the above && below photos. totally enjoying the studs and headflare.

this last editorial is really great, not only are the photos uber dreamy ((and PINK!)) but the styling is really great too. doesn’t this chick look like Alicia Silverstone??? -a prettier hip A.S….

i randomly stumbled upon this mag at a local hip gas station but i assume that some bookstores may carry. it’s only published 6 times a year so keep an eye out, it’s totes worth it! makes a great coffee table book, although i’ve been hoarding it my room constantly flipping through the pages for inspiration. oh and please excuse the poor scan quality, it was slightly bigger than my scanner and i had to hold it down each time to get it “just right” although some have some crappy shadows. check back as i will be posting many more pages!
info from Tokion.com && Wikipedia
happy happy weekend my fellow weekend warriorz!
