MAILCHIMP

mc
There are several things you should know about MailChimp, first of all they are an email marketing service provider, based in Atlanta. Secondly, they are hilarious and add little details to everything to give it humor. Additionally, they make hats for cats and throw really awesome customer appreciation parties! I’ve been using them at my job for a few years now and attended last years first shindig. With photobooths, open bars, food trucks and a life sized MailChimp-their parties RULE!

mc1

they had a photo area set up that was for you to capture a pic, post to Instagram and hashtag #mailchimplovesme and then it’d be printed out for you to take home-Dustin and I got attacked by these crazy glamping critters!

like this dress? local? you’re in luck! I’m selling it to Rag-O-Rama or Buffalo Exchange. have had it for a couple years, it’s made more than one blog appearance (and lets be honest, it’s a little too short….)
—bye dress!

like I was saying, MailChimp has a funny sense of humor that you immediately notice when using their services. whether it’s a monkey hand giving you a high five for sending out a campaign or learning how to say “hello” in a different language, also from a monkey, they add cute little details to everything about their brand. at the party they gave away SO MUCH SWAG, I snagged a super soft t-shirt, bag made from their old billboards, another cat hat this one for Flynn, and cat hats for Dustin and I to match the boys! they had the above vending machine with little plush monkeys, guaranteed a winner every time!

Factory Flashy: Curious Provisions

I’m starting a new little adventure here on the blog called “Factory Flashy” where I visit workshops and studios around Atlanta that make local goods.  Whether it’s food, crafts, clothes or accessories I want to shed some light on what’s getting made locally by talented folks! My first stop was the Curious Provisions showroom over on the Westside.  They take vintage suitcases from the 40s, 50s and 60s and turn them into portable BOOMBOXES that have Bluetooth capabilities as well as an aux cable and rechargeable battery. The two owners, Javier and David, met while working for Home Depot corporate and decided to set out on their own adventure. Their main gig is a digital design agency, Launch Interactive, but after getting tons of compliments on their suitcase boombox creation they had in their office they decided to launch their online store and that’s when they started Curious Provisions. With celebrities such as Shaq and Bruno Mars owning their goods, I’d say their creation is quite unique! Check out my studio visit-

outfit details: Bill Hallman top, F21 skirt, Superga shoes, Vieta bag and Deck Specks sunglasses (also a locally made brand!)

I snapped many behind the scenes photos but due keeping their designs confidential I promised the guys I wouldn’t post the photos but I will say the insides of these things are pretty cool! Also, LOUD, these things can reach 200 watts! As big fans of EDM (electronic dance music) the guys wanted the boomboxes to be able to produce high quality sound.

Thanks Javier and David for allowing me to hang and check out the studio and Pamela for giving me the whole opportunity and idea for this new adventure!

visit their website for more details and check back for more FACTORY FLASHY posts!

SALVAGE

last weekend I was invited by the sweet gals of Birds of a Feather Creative to attend Salvage hosted by the ladies of Indie Craft Experience to check out the selection of vintage clothes, housewares, handmade goods and locally made jewelry at Ambient Studios. in the past I’ve attended a few ICE events as well as Salvage and they always seem to have the BEST in indie and vintage goods! Ambient is a beautiful space with great natural light, high ceilings and lots of room to mingle around.

MUMFORD & SONS

I’ve been to more concerts than I could ever tally up and so many of them hold a special place in my memory for one reason or another. my first ever concert was Clint Black and Reba McEntire with my folks when I was in 1st or 2nd grade living in Montana. I can barely remember this one but still hold on to the memory of my brother crying cause he thought Reba was going to sing so long that Clint wasn’t going to come out- good stuff! there are so many different experiences you can get from a concert-there’s the shows you sweat like crazy while dancing your bum off and then there’s shows you sit and listen while peacefully taking it all in with goosebumps from head to toe. last weeks Mumford & Sons was a little bit of both! Dustin and I tried to get there in time to ride the Ferris wheel but unfortunately ATL traffic prevented that from happening but we did get to play in the Centennial Olympic Park’s fountains, grab some beers and fish tacos and squeeze into a spot on the lawn grabbing a seat on our picnic blanket for the openers-Bear’s Den & The Vaccines.

since I had my 50mm lens it was difficult to get concert shots from where we stood but I did like this one [above] though it didn’t capture the neat lights they had strung over the crowd that looked like backyard/cafe style. such a nice evening for a concert downtown overlooking the city, holding hands with my babe.
