I C E

couple times a year artists gather here in ATL for the Indie Craft Experience at Ambient Studios to sell and promote their hand-crafted goods. this past weekend after grabbing brunch with my gal pal we went to check out the goodies and also to support my boyfriend who was selling dog bow ties he crafts for his new side business called “Distinguished Domesticates.”

i snapped a few photos of the event with my new Canon 50mm 1.4 lens that i recently acquired, soooooo much fun playing with depth of field i can’t control myself!

Fashion’s Night Out

as most of you know last night was Fashion’s Night Out and even though Atlanta is not the most fashion forward city we did in fact have some cool events going on! i choose to hit up the G.Gilbert fashion show in White Provisions with my new blogger lady friend Natalie of Pocket of Presh.

we sipped wine and beers, nibbled on finger food from JCT Kitchen, Yeah Burger and Ormsby’s while watching ladies strut around the White Provisions attrium in pre-Fall fashions. here’s what we wore for the occasion:

as many bloggers out there are sporting ombre’d shorts and trying the technique at home it wasn’t hard to find tutorials explaining the process. i found that many ladies were just dipping them into the bleach then trying to give a fade manually. going back to my days of tie-dying i thought using rubberbands would give a nice fade effect and as it turns out..it does!
jorts_diy
it was quite easy, read about it on CommonCreativ in further detail!

sidenote: on CC i used orange dye around the top of the ones shown above, later i rebleached…dyed them a denim color and then redyed. i just wasn’t TOTALLY in love with the yellowish look and therefore kept changing it up until i got it exactly how i wanted and now i have a “new” pair of shorts i love!

don’t be afraid to experiment, you never know.. one step could take you to another step which could lead to a delightfully wild outcome!
