WEAR 10

We celebrated Valentines over the course of several days. On Friday we went to Martinis and IMAX at Fernbank were we sipped drinks, danced to a live jazz band and then watched a documentary on the Galápagos Islands.  I had never been to Fernbank and I feel like we picked the perfect night to go since it was perfectly crowded with happy couples having a fancy date night.  Afterwards we went to a friends housewarming party in East Atlanta. It was definitely a busier Friday night than normal which led to a slow Saturday morning which was fine because it was Valentines Day and we had planned to chill anyways.

After a homemade breakfast and the usual house stuff we then went out to the Stone Mountain Hobby Lobby to pick up art we had framed.  It’s funny how living in the city you have to take a small road trip to get to things like Hobby Lobby and even Walmart is a trek from our home. While we were on the road we grabbed some ice cream at a Bruster’s, can you believe I had never been to one?! It was awesome! After that we went to Serenbe Farm which was not close at all but I needed to drop off some wall hangings and weavings at a shop and Dustin being the sweet guy he is agreed to go and drive.  As usual I fell asleep and am basically the worst road trip partner ever, haha!

The shop we were going to is called Green House which is operated by the sweetest gal named Kenya. She saw my stuff on IG and wanted to consign some of my pieces which is great since I had just planned to sell on Esty (or keep them all for myself!) While we were out there we took advantage of the warm sun and snapped these photos of what I was wearing.

After a day on the road we kept the Valentines evening chill with a date at Ration and Dram which is sorta new and located near our neighborhood (it’s on Arizona, so I think technically Kirkwood).  It was really yummy and very reasonally priced. Even though Friday and Saturday were packed we managed to fit in even more on Sunday. Brunch with a girl friend and a surprise birthday party! Needless to say this week we are laying LOW!

Next post I’m going to share a tour of Green House! It’s packed with amazing vintage finds for both the home and kitchen. Come back and visit in a few days!

LOW KEY

This Christmas was the first holiday that Dustin and I divided things up between both of our families versus having to choose one or the other. It felt so good feeling the start of our own little family happening and having each other during all the traditions. Next Christmas we’ll have the same last name-crazy!

This year we first went out to Alpharetta for an early celebration of Winchester festivities and gift exchange both on Dec. 14th and the 21st — he’s got a large family and is the oldest of six!  Next we went to Alabama to hang out with the Smith crew. We kept the four days in Tuscaloosa very low key, which is exactly what we needed after packing and moving over the course of two weeks. For nearly the entire holiday we stayed in stretchy pants and lounged around. We cooked a bunch of yummy food, watched several traditional Christmas flicks (i.e. Christmas Vacation, Home Alone) played Cards Against Humanity and consumed copious amounts of wine. The second to last day I actually put on makeup and non-stretchy clothes and we explored around the wooded back yard, that was until I realized Frye boots are not make for hiking (or at least not these boots!)  My parents backyard is beautiful and leads down to a pretty big creek, here’s my one non-pajama look from this week:

Most of this outfit is new, but the newest piece is the Kate Spade sunglasses given to me from my younger brothers girl friend, Emily, thanks girl! Love the mother of pearl detail, these are definitely my go-to shades of the moment.  This was my first time wearing these boyfriend jeans I bought at Urban Outfitters and I really like the fit, though I think the next outfit I pair these with will I’ll have a more feminine shirt.

Details – Shirt/ Target, Jeans/UO, Sunglasses/ Kate Spade, Boots/Frye, Beanie/H&M

Today we fly into Denver, CO and then travel a few more hours into Beaver Creek to go skiing for a week. I’m both nervous and excited since I know it’ll be beautiful but also haven’t skied since I was 19 and I’ve broken many bones since that time. I plan to take lessons the first day out there as it’s been recommended that I do so. I’m taking my camera so expect a big recap post next week. Until then, enjoy ringing in the new year!

12804354235_81bee9b229_bI don’t know about your city but Atlanta’s temperatures have plummeted once again.  We had another cold front roll through and it feels like we may not get Spring for a little while longer.  I’ve seen it snow in March in Alabama so I try not to get my hopes up with warmer days until around April. This outfit is from a few weekends ago when Dustin and I went shopping around Atlantic Station. We each splurged at H&M getting basics and the pieces we wore on Valentines Day.

Currently on my last lunch break at the Mart. My boss couldn’t make it in today so I’m holding down the showroom fort solo, a bit anti-climatic if you ask me but I’m definitely happy for the new beginnings to happen on Monday!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas yesterday! The last few days have consisted of a healthy serving of rum balls and toffee, home videos, Catchphrase, comfy clothes and lots of laughter around the Smith house in Bamaland. Figured I’d let my Instagram snaps recap this holiday season.

lastly
what i really like most about this collection is the touches of masculinity while still keeping it girly. i’m serious when i say i’m studying this lookbook..its damn near perfection for Fall/Winter. imagining my own wardrobe i’m thinking i have pieces that could come together to form some of these looks. though i hate cold weather i’m pretty excited about layering, especially short sweaters over longer shirts, billowy tops over skirts/dresses and button downs under EVERYTHING.
hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween, as i had dressed up numerous times over October i opted to stay in and make chicken-n-dumplins. it was the smartest decision i’ve made in a while :)
