#FPFESTIVALDAYS

17526467181_6b1082c072_k

This past Thursday the Free People of White Provisions hosted a Pre-Shaky Knees / festival season kick off party.  The festivities included free local ice cream from The Queen of Cream, free locally brewed beer from Three Taverns, tote making by my favorite Native Bear, flower arrangements by Soul Flowers Floral Cart and of course, shopping!  I attended with camera in hand and snapped away —

We got this brew for my birthday keg, it’s my absolute favorite!  High-gravity while still on the lighter, crisp side with just the right amount of hops.. yum yum!

Went home with a handful of swag but my favorite was this tote made right in front of me by Leela of Native Bear!

Even though we didn’t go to Shaky Knees, it got me pumped up for this weekend’s Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama! Love us some music festivals! Now to just get through this work week…

BLACK AND WHITE FILM

Check out the last bit of the film Dustin and I developed and scanned! This is Ilford XP-2 Super Chromogenic B&W 135 Film he had in the camera for a few months taking photos in New Orleans, Colorado and parts of Georgia.  Like the Lomo film, I really enjoy the imperfections.  Light leaks and odd exposures gives ordinary environments character.  That first photo blew us away. The crispness of the building is stunning!

Lastly the final three photos were taken in Cloudland Canyons, GA

Dustin’s so talented, love that he shoots film while I shoot digital.  It’s fun to see the difference in what we capture during our trips.  Hope all of these film photos have inspired you to dust off that analog camera and shoot some film for yourselves!

WIGWAM WELLNESS FESTIVAL SERIES

17052150379_86954ad914_k

Remember this post where I mentioned I’d be helping with the Wigwam Wellness Festival Series? Well, I’ve been in full swing since March!  The first date was April 12th and I attended the fest as a guest to get acquainted and have my own Wigwam experience, it was awesome and it made me so proud to be involved! This past weekend I attended as the photographer and though the first half was during a torrential downpour, the ladies behind the logistics pulled it off without a hitch, and that day was awesome as well!  Along with photographing, I’ve been running the Instagram account, which is really fun because it involves spicing up photos with boho graphics using the Rainbow Love App and A Beautiful Mess.

I compiled my favorite photos from 4/19 that will give you an idea of what the Wigwam Experience is all about.

Each morning starts with a welcome ceremony that consists of a variety of music, motivation, meditation, huzzahs and a gong! Then everyone goes off to their first experience. Followed by a 15 minute break then onto the next experience.

Each festival date has vendors that sell goods during the day. To name a few there has been -organic makeup, oils, camping gear, yoga mats, soy candles and cold pressed juices!

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is something in and of itself a magical place. It’s really the perfect spot for a yoga and wellness retreat with it’s 127 acres of beautiful trees, flowers, lakes, preservation areas, bird exhibits, butterfly gardens…the list goes on!

The lineup includes classes for all levels and the instructors are really sweet and help the beginners and also give the experienced yogis a chance to push themselves.

Photographing this event is a different pace for me.  I’m used to event photography, but adding fitness and lots of movement makes it a really fun challenge! I’m looking forward to this Sunday’s experience, especially since the sun is supposed to make an appearance. Check out the line up for 4/26 and 5/3 and come out and join us!

WEEKEND SNAPSHOTS

Processed with VSCOcam with se3 preset
I’ve never met a weekend I didn’t like and this past one was exceptional great! Friday after work, Dustin and I had a date night. We kept it convenient and went to Atlantic Station. I snapped the above photo before dinner with my Iphone after looking over and thinking “dang, what a hunk!” Then we had beers and supper at Yard House followed by the movie theater to see American Sniper. Though it was sad, it was a really good film. Dustin had read the book and said a lot of it was embellished but I suppose that’s how most stories get construed. Sienna Miller has always been one of my top favorite fashion inspirations, always enjoy seeing her act as well.

Saturday the weather was gorgeous and we had tons of natural light pouring into our little home and since I had rented an 85mm L series lens, I experimented with it indoors. First with our fancy coffee we grinned up and used in a French press. I randomly saw this limited edition coffee on Manready Merchantile’s Instagram and thought Dustin would love it and he did! There are whiskey and smokey notes, both of which are right up his alley.16146731323_d03cfdb903_k

The buffet cabinet I use in the master bedroom with some of my weavings I put on dowels along with trinkets and my new West Elm jewelry box.

My stock pile of flower crowns. One of which I made recently for a friend for Hangout music festival we’ll be attending in a little under 2 months. Can’t wait!

Pottery made by Dustin’s sister Sarah Anne, the pitcher holds my Nana’s old spoons and our muddler.

The only time I left the house on Saturday was to walk to Spotted Trotter, a local charcuterie, for some breakfast sausages.  Just now realizing everything I wore was from Gap (minus the Frye boots) guess they have been my go-to brand as of lately.

Our home has two non-working fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the guest bedroom. Though it would be nice if they were functioning during the cold winter days, I still appreciate the mantels we use to display our favorite trinkets like this deer candle I was given as a gift from Emma, one of Dustin’s knives from India, a pitcher from my grandparents, a chardonnay flavored candle and a hawk feather I found at a music fest a long time ago.

A favorite part of my weekends is time spent hanging around the house goofing off with the cats. Of our two indoor cats, Tater is the most playful and snugly.  He’s actually very strong too!

Not shown here are the cocktails Dustin and I made and I photographed. Those I’m saving for the next post! Also, Sunday was a much busier day with a picnic and photographing a supper at the Goat Farm. I’ll be sharing both of those here as well! Hope your weekend was equally as sunny and all you ladies took the time to celebrate National Women’s Day!

HOPE FOR STEVE

On Sunday I drove up to Avalon shopping district to the Free People store for a morning of yoga and art in celebration of a local couple, Hope and Steve, who are taking on Steve’s ALS with admirable positivity and optimism.  They’ve teamed up with artist Jeremy Brown and started the project , Drive, making art with the wheels of his wheelchair.  The paintings they create are beautiful! They’re all very bright and have a cheerful feel to them, much like the love between Hope and Steve.

Exhale Studio and Spa hosted the 60 minute yoga class.  It was a blast! We got in all aspects of yoga and even free style danced-obviously my favorite part!  Their Avalon location will be opening in February. They were excellent hosts and very kind, I’ll definitely be trying out some of their classes!

Hope and Steve’s paintings went so well with the vibes of Free People! And it was especially cool to be doing yoga inside a FP, felt so fitting.  It was truly a lovely way to start a Sunday.

Thanks Free People for the great event helping a great cause!
