Youthful & Free

Sunday, Jezebel Magazine in partnership with the BB&T Atlanta Open hosted a party in conjunction with their most recent issue that highlights Atlanta’s Top 100 restaurants. I attended with the hopes of capturing some “Best Dressed” pics and since that was easy peasy as there were lots of well-dressed Atlantans in attendance, I was then able to partake in the tasty food and play in the photobooth! here’s what I wore:

Dustin and I thought the front of this dress looks like an owl, can you see it? I think it makes it so much cooler, not that it needed cool points cause it’s just straight AWESOME.

once we got there Dustin asked “Jess, have you seen your Street Style section in print yet??!” and I exclaimed “NOOO!!!” and we both ran over and flipped to page 58 and then proceeded to OooH and Ahhhh :P then we took the above photos and got filmed doing so by the Modern Luxury videographer, silly awesome moment that I’ll never forget!

the title of this post was actually something Dustin said to me after the party, he said that I looked pretty in my new dress and said that I looked “youthful and free” which made my heart flutter and I thought it was the perfect compliment to me and the dress!

Sneak Peek

each month when the Free People catalog preview hits my inbox I always get really excited, for many reasons. first reason, I’m getting to see a sneak peak of what’s to come before it’s actually hitting mailboxes and secondly it’s always B E A U T I F U L and inspiring! hence why I’m always saving my hard copies and hoarding them away for later use to collage with or just to flip through again and again.

“For this month’s catalog, Free People tapped the beautiful Anja Rubik to show off the latest from the line. Amazing booties alongside great transitional jackets, and breezy dresses are mixed with funky accents such as armor-like jewelry and rounded sunnies.
Anja shows off her cool, unique personality in every shot and we can’t help but be reminded that this is what the Free People fashion is all about: clothing that adapts to women everywhere, showing off their inner beauty and accentuating their individuality.”

while I’m giving FP a shoutout may as well mention that they JUST launched an APP that’s available as of today for FREE. you can shop, see what’s trending, keep track of pieces you like and best of all get inspired by their styling. I just downloaded it and started exploring, perhaps a second app review will follow?

don’t know about you but I’m super excited for the mid-week holiday! especially since a gal pal is throwing and epic bday bash that will include fireworks, RED/WHITE/BLUE EVERYTHING, bb guns, BBQ and back porch beer sipping!

Summer has officially BEGUN.

the girl in the bikini

Style:
Free People’s upcoming April “Dolce Vita” catalog will feature 3 photographers capturing 3 different story lines. of the three, my favorite is the “Girl in the Bikini” which is inspired by fashion icon Bridget Bardot.

The editorial showcases her 70’s boho vibe and 50’s/60’s sex kitten look as seen through the style of modern day Free People and lensed by Guy Aroch. This portion features the brand’s key swim pieces paired back to casual, effortless layering items.”
Style: "Penutbutter and Blueberries" Style: "Cooper" Style: "B+W Dull" The Girl in the Bikini_Free People_Ieva Leguna (3)
there are many reasons why this is my favorite but truth be told it probably has a lot to do with my Hawaii vacation getting closer and CLOSER! the other two story lines are really great as well but you’ll just have to wait and see for yourself! as always I’m looking forward to the issue landing as one of my fave little things in life is when the Anthro + UO + FP catalogs are waiting for me in the mailbox….true story!
hope you enjoyed the sneak peak!
happy FRIDAY!

CATCHER OF DREAMZ

in the previous post i casually mentioned that a friend and i are sharing an art space at the Goat Farm, that being said one of my first projects is to whip up some DREAM CATCHERS! as an avid arts & crafts supplies collector it was time to get a space for my mega collection and since loft living in the city doesn’t provide office space at a reasonable cost i opted for a separate workspace. the farm is an amazing spot to get inspired, have some alone time, meet other artsy folks and really dive into projects while working close to a friend who has always been an inspiration. throughout the years i have done quite a bit of peddling my own creations- such as selling stickers, posters or “hippy halos” at music festivals so…when i decided it was time to get a space that also meant i need to make back a little bit of monies [hints] making some “inventory” to sell at local festivals and markets.

getting back to dream catchers…

it’s sorta crazy how trendy they’ve become yet i really dig how unique they’ve gotten from the original “design.”  been collection inspiring photos as ideas to take the my supplies and turn them into something dreamy//

how the dream catcher is made:
Using a hoop of willow, and decorating it with findings, bits and pieces of everyday life, (feathers, arrow heads, beads, etc) the dream catcher is believed to have the power to catch all of a person’s dreams, trapping the bad ones, and letting only the good dreams pass through the dream catcher.

don’t be afraid-you too can get inspired and DIY it UP!
