ALL THE FALL THINGS + HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Since I’ve seen countless posts like this, I find comfort in knowing we aren’t the only goobs out in an apple orchards and tree farms, dressed in inappropriate clothing to get that “perfect pic” for a holiday card or blog post…

See our go at it below:

Back in earlier Fall a group of twelve of us went up to North Georgia for a day of BBQ eating and apple picking at B.J. Reece Orchards.

Stetson, Lou & Grey top, Madewell skinnies, DV shoes, Ray-Ban shades

Slaw (Sarah Lawrence)  was an apple pickin’ pro! Way more focused than, ahem… ME.

A must visit for anyone around the Atlanta area. And if you’re into it, there’s a nearby mini golf course and swimming pig race (Google it!)

Our friends found this romantic little spot and we couldn’t help but get some photos.

After sweating our bums off we hung out in the market and enjoyed shade and apple flavored everything.

Our haul and a curious Flynny.

Had more than we knew what to do with so I opted to just cook them all and use for various recipes. Started with skinning them, then dicing into small cubes, melted some butter and added vanilla extract, rosemary and a pinch of salt and later used in hand pies  and a cobbler-all turned out so yummy!

Onto cutting down our Christmas tree!

Brixton hat, Madewell sweater + bandana, Anthro shirt, vintage Coach bag

This year we did things a little differently.  With buying a house and all the expenses that come with that, including furnishing it which I’m so excited to soon share, we had pretty much broken the bank.  So even though our tree wasn’t going to have gifts under it and to be honest, we both aren’t the biggest Christmas lovers, we still wanted to at least give our new home a proper tree.  Google led us to a cute little farm in Marietta called Coker Farms. They had these beautiful bluish green trees I had never seen before called Carolina blue spruce.

We went with the unique one, duh! You can’t see it in this photo but our tree has these beautiful yellow flowers(?) and little brown acorn looking things. We left it minimal with white lights only so the tree itself could steal the show, no ornaments necessary!

We didn’t send out a Christmas card with our picture on it but if we had, we would have used this one. Sometimes offering to take a photo for a stranger in return for them snapping one for you, turns out pretty dang good!

Good job stud!

Merry Everything to All! Enjoy the day hanging with friends, family and pets!

A DATE NIGHT

Dustin and I love and frequent a local restaurant called JCT Kitchen.  We went last week and I wore this hip trench coat I picked up at the end of last year at H&M.  Since I wore it with a black dress it gave it the appearance of a long vest.  Also paired it with my favorite two-toned bag. that if I had to admit, I use everyday :)

For Halloween we are going to The Hanger on the Beltline for a costume and dance party.  Dustin and I are dressing up as Rick and Maggie from The Walking Dead.  Though the show is pretty gory, we really like it!  Fun fact: most of it has been filmed in and around Atlanta, the first season was very close to my old loft!

Have a safe and candy-filled Halloween!

So I’ve been watching the weekend forecast like a hawk and I’ll say this-if you’re coming to town for Shaky Knees Music Fest you’d be smart to pack your rain coat and boots! I don’t actually own a rain jacket but am hitting up Target after work to hunt down a polka dot one I saw on a friend and if that doesn’t happen I’ll be recycling my un-fashionable canary yellow poncho. What I’d really like is to wear cute clothes, bring my camera, shoot festival style, dance in the sun and enjoy myself without the worry of rain. From now until tomorrow afternoon you can find me doing an anti-rain dance!

Locals: tonight there’s a pre-festival party at Free People White Provisions tonight, details here.

fell for those velvet laces! planning to switch them out when it gets warm with some bright laces and wear them with dresses and shorts.

though I hear Fashion Week is going to get some heavy snow I’d still LOVE to be darting from runway to runway catching all the future trends and looks LIVE! someday I’d like to hit up NYFW … until then I’ll be living vicariously through street style and fashion magazine blogs. meh. least we have that much, right??

have a good weekend!
