Post – Feast

postfeast
while Sunday’s Moveable Feast was a successful event and a good time with friends and family it was also a learning experience. Ryan and I both have some things to learn about planning and hosting events and what better way to be learn then first hand, right?! Ryan’s food was delicious, the music by Nadia Marie was soul touching and the decor we both worked on went up fairly smoothly! much like NYE I was running around crazy and only had time to pause to take a few quick snaps and due to candle lighting, sadly, a lot of them didn’t turn out great.
my favorite spot in the ballroom that night is captured in the above photo. it is an antique piano Chelsea and I wheeled onto the dance floor area. I jazzed it up with candles and wine bottle decor and hung the DIY’d fringe from NYE above.

we are sporting vintage tops and I’m wearing my new LOFT slacks, vintage hat and bolo I picked up at the Rock & Mineral Show in Alabama

after the event was over and the decor came down I had to work and while I was on the grind my sweety sweet sweet boyfriend was working on a surprise for me at the house….

I came home to find my room was slightly transformed into boho amazingness-

he took the wreaths we made + the NYE fringe and hung them while balancing on a chair in the center of my bed, basically risking his life :P
I am truly a lucky gal!

MOVEABLE FEAST EVENT

spoonNfork1
I’m sure with my mention of a dinner event you were interested in hearing more details, right? so here goes, the Moveable Feast is being held THIS SUNDAY at the Highland Inn Ballroom hosted by Native Crave-a catering and events company my boyfriend has been operating since last year. he’s booked live music including a harp session by Atlanta local singer/song writer Nadia Marie, a Swing House dj set and we’ve handcrafted decor. OH and there’s also the delicious tapas menu he’s prepared!!
in regards to the events environment and attire Ryan said “I want the space to feel as if we were making our home among the trees and coming together for fellowship and celebration. the attire should reflect that in the way of re-meeting our true selves. like taking your city look back to it’s roots. therefore-urban meets arbor.”

if you are in the Atlanta area come over to the Highlands for a unique “Supper Club” experience.

Rustic City

surplus
as I previously mentioned I wanted to show you my “version”of the rustic city gal trend that’s been circulating around for some time now. all of these pieces I wear independently as well as together to complete the look. out of this particular outfit, my favorite component is the parka having had to search for the right one for a while then ended up finding mine at H&M, I’m very pleased with my bargain! the lightweight fabric is great for layering in the colder months and will be perfect for a standalone jacket in the Spring.

these photos were shot by my lovely boyfriend at his lake house in Macon, GA. recently the community opened the nearby dam in order to lower the lake water level allowing for dock maintenance so the lake is abnormally low. I’m standing on land that is usually under water! did some exploring around the new “shore” and found deer tracks, fresh water clam shells, drift wood and neat stones.

FAVORABLE TREND

city_rustic2
lately through street style snaps on blogs and Pinterest I’ve noticed a rustic city gal meets cowgirl trend i’ve been really into including wide-brim hats, parkas, ankle boots, satchels and fringe. I’ve pulled some of my favorite looks from my “Streets and Style” board showing how it’s done all over the world.

the look even comes in a dressy version

I’m always up for mixing brown and black
this ensemble is very much my style as it’s relaxed, comfy with a little tomboy mixed in with BOOTS.
snapped a few photos on Sunday of how I’m currently rocking this trend using pieces from my own wardrobe-stay tuned for photos TOMORROW.
